Before joining Boston University’s doctoral program in political science, I spent two years working at the Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques (IRIS), a Paris-based think tank. While living in Paris, I engaged in various projects on migration policy and sport diplomacy, and I contributed to the media coverage of sports and politics. I describe some of these activities below.
[Project] Towards a European Union Sport Diplomacy (TES-D) – Erasmus+ Project (2021-2023)
I participated in the grant proposal writing of the TES-D project as a research assistant at IRIS, and I stayed on as research associate to work on the project once we received funding from the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. In collaboration with scholars and practioners from universities and organizations in Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, Romania and Denmark, the project aimed at (1) documenting existing national sport diplomacies of EU countries and (2) developing an EU-level policy for sport diplomacy building on existing national expertise.

[Policy Report] Securitisation and Third-Sector Organizations: A Comparative Study of France and Greece – 89 Initiative
89 Initiative was a pan-European think-do tank founded in 2015 at the London School of Economics. As a research officer at 89 Initiative, I participated in the data collection and drafting of a policy report about the securitization of migration in the context of the “2015 migration crisis” in Europe. As part of this qualitative cross-country project, I conducted 14 semi-structured interviews with representatives from non-governmental organizations in Paris.

This article was published by the Revue Internationale Stratégique, the journal edited by IRIS. With my co-author Carole Gomez, we examine the diplomatic relations between China and the United States through the prism of sports.
